By His Wounds!

Lyrics+

Introduction

I never wanted to be a writer—never once had that dream as a young boy. That is, until God grabbed me at age 19 and showed me His Son and His Truth.

I surrendered my life to Jesus a month after first walking into that evangelical church on December 15, 1981, the first such church I’d ever entered. (I grew up without church or any faith.)

Immediately after conversion and water baptism, I started writing lyrics in my head and singing them to myself. A few found their way onto paper, but not many.

God had knit writing into my being and the Holy Spirit set it free at my moment of surrender.

That’s how God works. All the time. For those who accept His Son as their Lord and Savior.

It’s important to know that I don’t write music, sing, or play any instruments. Never have.

Why do I write lyrics, then?

Because God continually pours words and feelings inside me to overflowing; those words race around my head and heart non-stop begging to be let out.

As you read lyrics God has trusted me with, know that there is a very fine and blurry line between lyrics and poetry. I hear them as lyrics, rarely as poetry. You may have a different experience, and that is just fine with me.

I will add short stories and prose at times, so I included a “+” in the menu title, hence…Lyrics+!

*** Important note: If you wish to use any of my writing on this site—any words, lyrics, prose, short stories, or blogs, as a whole or in part, please email me and request permission. I’m a really nice guy and will likely agree, but will want to know how you plan to use my creative work.

In Christ,

John
